3.     Summary:
This article discusses how the use of e-cigarettes have become so common. Since the overall use is increasing and long term effects are being questioned, there are interventions that are starting to take place in order to prevent the younger population from overusing.
4.     Author:
The authors of this article are all in medical school studying adolescent behavior along with hygiene and protection.
5.     Key terms:
e-cigarettes- electronic device that mimics tobacco smoking
teenagers- a person aged between 13 and 19 years.
vaping- the action of inhaling and exhaling the vapor from by an electronic cigarette.
6.     Quotes:
"E-cigarette advertising expenditures increased sharply, while safety and long-term health effects are still vague based on the present scientific evidence."
"Marketing, especially through social media, has a salient role in vaping promotion among adolescents; whereas retail stores are a prominent source of e-cigarette display."
"Future research is imperative to illustrate the motivations behind teenagers’ experimentation with e-cigarettes, while continued monitoring is warranted to clarify the temporal relationship between e-cigarette and tobacco products, with firmer tobacco control and social networking policies to prevent smoking initiation and lifetime continuation."
7.     Value:
This material is important to my research because it focuses on why vaping is so popular and why students choose this behavior. This article also discusses the perception of e-cigarettes and how they have changed over the years.
